ABSTINENCE IN 2007

Here's what other teens are saying about abstinence and waiting for their dreams:

"I'm not having sex and I wouldn't want it any other way. I don't need sex to make my life complete - it's just fine without it." ~ female, 17

"I decided not to have sex again until I get married." ~ male, 17

"When you are a teen, you have enough to worry about as it is. Am I popular? What college am I going to? What should I wear? Could you imagine having to worry about that and then on top of things like: Where can I find a good babysitter? How am I gonna buy diapers? Why does my baby keep crying? Or how do I get treatment for my herpes outbreaks? How did I get AIDS? So who would want to go through that when being a teen is hard enough?" ~ female, 16

"Call me a traditionalist, but sex is something special. If a guy went around giving a rose to every girl and then to you, you wouldn't think much of it. But, if that guy had never given a rose to anyone before and then gives you one, you feel special." ~ female, 16

"To me, there is only one way to be responsible - 100% virgin until marriage or until you are mature, responsible and are in a monogamous relationship with somebody who is the same and you can trust." ~ male, 14

"Sex is more than just a contact sport." ~ female, 15

"Every time you have sex you give yourself away." ~ female, 13

"I don't really care what people say; right now, sex just isn't worth the risk." ~ female, 17

"To me, being a virgin means you know what you are. Being a virgin doesn't mean you're saving yourself for that special partner - it means you're saving yourself for you." ~ female, 17

"I think it's very sad that sex is no longer considered special and sacred. Sex is an act of love. In my opinion, this subject shouldn't be taken so lightly by so many." ~ female, 15
